Australian Bassoonist Jakab Kaufmann freelances in orchestras across Switzerland on modern and historical instruments. In addition to Switzerland and Australia he has performed in Italy, Austria, Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic, Belgium, the Netherlands and in venues such as the Zürich Tonhalle, KKL Luzern, St John's Smith Square and the Sydney Opera House.

After studying modern bassoon and conducting at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, he pursued further studies in historical performance with Donna Agrell at the renowned Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He has also taken lessons with or participated in master courses with notable bassoonists Giorgio Mandolesi (l'Orchestre de Paris), Malte Refardt (NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover), Guilhaume Santana (Lucerne Festival Orchestra), Peter Whelan (Scottisch Chamber Orchestra), Alberto Grazzi (Ensemble Zefiro), Györgyi Farkas and Jane Gower (Concerto Copenhagen). He has also worked with leading musicians such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Emma Kirkby, Anton Steck and Steven Devine.
