Ensemble Molière presents Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre Cantate “L'isle de delos” with soprano Roberta Diamond as part of the Brighton Early Music Festival, Early Music Live! Young Artists scheme.

L’Isle de Délos is set to a text by Antoine Danchet and paints a picturesque pastoral scene adorned with nymphs and goddess’. The movements take it in turn to illustrate the bounty of the isle or the virtue of each of the characters; Terpsichore leads the dance, Flora is the essence of spring and Philomel is historically known as the nightingale. In this set of cantatas Elisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre begins to explore musical traditions more commonly found on the stage and brings them to the more intimate setting of the Cantata François.
